Brief description of site
The Great Lawn and Wilderness at Powis Castle were the work of William Emes in the early-18th century. He removed an earlier water parterre and cascade to create the one-hectare flat lawn and wilderness planting on the slope rising from it. Later planting of rhododendrons and other shrubs and trees followed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
