Brief description of site
From its waterside setting the site commands views over the Menai Strait to Snowdonia. There are woodland and marine walks and an extensive walled kitchen garden. Twentieth-century garden developments include formal terraces, a rhododendron garden and an arboretum.
Brief history of site
The large mansion at Plas Newydd was redesigned by James Wyatt at the end of the 18th century. The associated park, landscaped at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, was influenced by input from Humphrey Repton, part of whose Red Book entry for the site is extant.
