Historic England's Architectural Red Box Collection available online
Historic England's Architectural Red Box Collection is now available online. It is called 'England's Places'. The collection includes images dating from the earliest photography in the 1850s up to the early 1990s. Subjects include churches and country houses, historic buildings and modern architecture. There are street scenes and village-scapes which bring to life Victorian and Edwardian England, alongside photographic records of buildings threatened with destruction during the mid-20th century. The Red Box Collection is often a useful resource for garden history research and the new website is very timely for the Capability Brown Festival.
